Barn Loft 3rd in Dulcimer Competition

Nathaniel Barn Loft took his first stab at competition dulcimer playing last week and earned an impressive 3rd place finish in the Southeastern Mountain Dulcimer Championship, which is held each year at the Dulcimer Jamboree in Mountain View, Arkansas. Barn Loft played "Black Mountain Rag" and "How Great Thou Art" the first round and "Spanish Fandango" and "Wayfaring Stranger" in the final round. Barn Loft traveled to the festival, which also included three days of workshops and concerts, with Main House President Dad.

Miss Sasha

Doesn't Sasha look like a nice little old lady? But guess what, she's a scarecrow! She's made by a friend of Sarah Daffodil's, Miss Cecile, who is a jewelry artist http://www.happilyadorned.com/. The scarecrow's head is made out of a gourd with paper clay on it. Miss Cecile says she'll be happy if Sasha lasts one year. The name Sasha comes from a combination of the illustrator's name, Tasha Tudor and Sarah Daffodil.

Venice in Misty

You have seen pictures of this before, photos from Venice, Italy or maybe an artist's rendering on canvas of passangers in a gondola propelled by a gondolier. Maybe you have actually lived this out. Mayor Asher Ply Wood and Autumn Fern came close.

It was a misty day in the land of Misty where Main House President Dad and four Acorn Hill Citizens enjoyed fishing and boat rides. This was the first time Fern road in a canoe. Neither Fern nor Ply Wood stood up. Sarah Daffodil and Nathaniel Barn Loft waved goodbye to them from the bank prentending that Dad was taking them to a land far away.

Fern caught her first bass. Ply Wood caught one. Nathaniel Barn Loft caught two. Sarah Daffodil served as photo journalist.

Barn Loft Earns Game Ball

Acorn Hill sports star Nathaniel Barn Loft got the start on the mound in the Hooks' second game of the season, and he ended up pitching a complete game, throwing only 64 pitches. The Hooks won the game, and the coach awarded Barn Loft the game ball. Barn Loft also drove in a run and and scored twice, one by stealing home.

The Hooks lost their third game.

Banana Man

Yes, Acorn Hill is a quiet little friendly place to live, and in recent it has been quite exciting too. Citizens are thrilled.
Pastor Eli Hemlock is enjoying different food. Main House First Lady Mom realized that it was time to give Hemlock more variety in his diet. "Well, Eli kept looking at my food when I was eating. I was feeling a little sorry for the guy." She continued, "He kept wanting to eat all the time, so he wasn't getting full at normal eating times." Hemlock's eyes glow when a spoonful of bananas goes to his mouth. All of a sudden he is content. Main House President Dad gave Hemlock his first bowl of bananas.
This new turn of events has gotten Mayor Asher Ply Wood and Autumn Fern interested in serving Hemlock food too. They want to serve their pastor as they are served by him.
Organic brown rice cereal is also on Hemlock's menu.

At Grandma's for Easter

Acorn Hill citizens enjoyed two days in Kentucky with their Grandma and other kin. They celebrated Easter together with a great meal, dulcimer playing, egg hunting and bunches of family time. Mayor Asher Ply Wood and Autumn Fern enjoyed riding little automobiles in Aunt Laura's driveway. But Fern said what she liked about the trip was seeing Grandma and her dog, Freckles. Mayor Ply Woods answer to what he liked about the trip was, "I don't know, everything."

Pastor Eli Hemlock

Pastor Eli Hemlock, a smiley Acorn Hill citizen, enjoys life. He likes to watch fellow citizens listen to music, play, swing and laugh.

He has a house of pallets in Fernville, built by Nathaniel Barn Loft.

Hemlock plans to leave for Kentucky this weekend to spend time with his grandma over Easter.

Barn Loft Begins Baseball Season With a Bang

Little League season began today, and Acorn Hill sports star Nathaniel Barn Loft enjoyed what he described as one of his best Little League games ever. Barn Loft, who batted third, went 4 for 4 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in four. He also stole several bases, including home. Barn Loft played the first three innings at first base, where he saw no action, but pitched the final two innings, giving up only one run and striking out four and throwing only 19 pitches. Barn Loft's team, the Hooks, won 16-9.

Making Movies

The Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts, www.georgiaartists.org received a grant enabling them to make short 1-3 minute recordings of local artists. This included Acorn Hill's Main House President Dad, Nathaniel Barn Loft and Sarah Daffodil. After days of practicing, Dad and Barn Loft talked about dulcimer strums. Daffodil talked about pressed-flowers and other things that can be pressed. "It was a good experience," said Daffodil. "It was a good place to record, the camera man was nice and we finished fast," she continued. "It was fun," said Barn Loft.
